are you indie?

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

are you indie? do you thrive on working your own hours, but have the discipline to crack down and get business done? are you looking to collaborate with other indies and experience the power of small pieces loosely joined? Oh, and are you proud of being a Philadelphian??

Then I encourage you to go check out the landing page for Independents Hall, a We Know HTML production that aims to bring the local independent community together once and for all. We’re building our contact base and will shortly be branching out in other community formats…we promise, this is going to be the coolest thing since the LAST time a Declaration was signed here.

Ultimately the goal is to turn this group into a regular meetup group, going out for drinks and food and talking industry. After that, Jelly and coworking will be the next opportunities to look forward to!

Just go to the page and sign up on the right hand side. We promise that you won’t be spammed, and your contact info will not be resold. We value your privacy as much as we value your willingness to contribute.

So buckle down, and get ready to start the revolution. History shall repeat itself, and once again the indies will rock the house.

Just a little less than a month away, I’m already gearing up for CreativeCampv2.0 which is being held on December 2nd from 12-5 (now on upcoming.org).
I’ve covered barcamp a fair amount over at dangerouslyawesome.com but for those who still arent familiar:

The barcamp format is an ad-hoc conference format that really boils down to topic driven organized chaos. It’s worth mentioning here that even though it’s called a “camp” it’s held inside, comfortably protected from windy Philadelphia winter weather and pesky mosquitos. Discussion and creativity are king at these events. All participants are presenters, since the whole event is fueled by open discussion. CM Access organized the first Camp back in September, and it was a total success (not to mention, we got to meet the killer team that threw the event). At it I pitched a Philly Coworking scene, which was quickly donned “Independent’s Hall” (more to come on that…don’t think I’ve forgotten about it).

If you’re interested in participating in CreativeCampv2.0, and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be (IT’S FREE AND THERE’S COOKIES), head on over to the wiki and register.
